A New Era of Ocean Travel

Written by Robin Gilmore

Last month, EXPLORA I departed on her maiden journey, sailing from Copenhagen, Denmark on an epic journey through seven captivating destinations to Reykjavik, Iceland.

Explora Journeys says, “A new era of ocean travel has arrived,” and Lance & MaryLou got to experience this incredible inaugural sailing.

Explora Journeys has a series of itineraries spanning three continents, offering guests cultural immersion and an opportunity for inner and outer discovery.

The new ship is stunning. The grand staircase in the atrium is truly GRAND and there was often a professional pianist performing at the grand piano in the atrium lobby.

The ship has 461 ocean front suites and 78 are connecting suites. Sizing starts at 377 square feet, which makes them among the most spacious for the luxury cruise category. The spacious suites are all equipped with the latest technology and luxurious bath amenities.

We loved the fine dining. The ship has 6 unique restaurants and 11 culinary experiences. The staff was always very welcoming and service was incredible.

The view from the back of the ship was wonderful, even on a cloudy day. We also enjoyed the pool with a retractable sunroof. Numerous lounge chairs surrounded the pool.

Of course the shopping was top notch. The ship has more than 30 artisanal brands that are committed to caring for people and the planet.

Our experience with Explora Journeys was truly one of a kind!

Explora sails to the following destinations: Mediterranean & Western Europe; Caribbean & Central America; Iceland & Greenland; East Coast of US & Canada and New England; Pacific Coast & Hawaii; and the Red Sea & Arabian Peninsula.
