Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon

Why We Chose This Hotel

Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon is perfect for visitors wanting to explore Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. It’s close to the lagoon, making it easy for tourists to go on glacier tours, boat trips on the lagoon, or visit the nearby Diamond Beach. The hotel also offers amazing views of Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull, giving guests beautiful scenery right from their rooms. Bathrooms in the hotels are heated, a luxury not seen in most hotels. The staff at Fosshotel are great too, and will even do house calls for the Northern Lights if you’re visiting outside of the summer months. Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon also has a great in house restaurant, with a menu full of fresh fish and a variety of incredible dishes. Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon is actually one of my favorite hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and is a testament to how nice 4 star properties can be.

Why We Chose This Hotel

Fosshotel Vatnajökull is about 3.1 miles from Höfn Airport and has great views of the Vatnajökull glacier. It’s a good choice for tourists who want to explore the southeastern part of Iceland. Guests can enjoy comfortable rooms with modern amenities like satellite TV and private bathrooms. The hotel is close to Höfn, which has great local restaurants known for their langoustine (small lobster) dishes. Hofn is actually one of the biggest villages in Iceland (an impressive 2000 people live there). During my stay in Iceland, we spent time in Hofn and swam with the locals in an outdoor pool. It may have been 20 degrees outside, but the experience is one of my favorite travel experiences I have ever had.

Fosshotel Vatnajökull is 41.7 miles away from Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Even though it’s a bit farther from the lagoon, it offers a nice mix of easy access to both natural wonders and the charming town of Höfn.
