An average of five million people visit Grand Canyon National Park each year. Understandably so, as this World Heritage Site boasts everything from amazing views to fun activities. It stretches 277 miles long, 10 miles wide, and more than one mile deep until it reaches the Colorado River at the canyon floor. Susan, Steve, Dave, and Dan visited in May of 2023 and enjoyed the best of the Grand Canyon.
Most people visit one of four places in the Grand Canyon: the South Rim, the North Rim, Grand Canyon West, and Grand Canyon East. Many people argue the best place to visit is the South Rim. With nearly two dozen view points, that’s where you’ll see the expansive views seen on TV, postcards, etc. It’s home to several great places to stay and eat; it’s also the most easily accessible from places like Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Grand Canyon West houses the famous Skywalk, the glass walkway that takes your 70 feet out over the grand Canyon. Grand Canyon East is located along the Colorado River and is home to Horseshoe Bend. If you watched Nik Wallenda walk across the Little Colorado River Gorge in 2013, that area is Grand Canyon East. The North Rim is only open May through October due to heavy snowfall, but it’s popular among nature enthusiasts, photographers, and hikers.
Adventure lovers can enjoy whitewater rafting, camping, helicopter rides, and multi-day backpacking adventures. There are plenty of family-friendly activities as well from wildlife viewing and cycling to mule rides and train rides.
Susan, Steve, Dave, and Dan enjoyed sunrises over the canyon, a helicopter ride, the wildlife, the Sunset Crater Volcano Visitors Museum, and much more. Give us a call or email us; we look forward to helping create a custom vacation tailored just for you.
