- The ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System) is a new visa application form that will be required for visa-exempt travelers to enter the Schengen area, including Portugal, starting in May 2025.
- ETIAS will apply to citizens of around 60 countries, including the United States, Canada, and Australia, who previously did not need a visa to stay in Portugal for short stays up to 90 days
- The ETIAS authorization will cost €7 (around $7.50) and will be valid for 3 years or until the traveler’s passport expires, whichever comes first.
- Travelers will need to apply for ETIAS online at least 96 hours before their trip and receive approval before they can travel to the Schengen area or European Union, the ETIAS will be a Schengen Visa only, excluding the United Kingdom.

Portugal Golden Visa Program
The Portugal Golden Visa Program, officially known as the residence permit for investment activity (ARI), is a residency-by-investment scheme designed for non-EU citizens.
