The Pink Sands of Harbour Island, Bahamas

The Pink Sands of Harbour Island.

Eleuthera & Harbour Island

Tiny Harbour Island, off the northern tip of Eleuthera, is the most enchanting and exclusive corner of the Bahamas, famous above all for its three-mile beach of soft pink sand, blushed rose by crushed coral and microscopic shells.

The pastel-colored colonial village of Dunmore Town is a postcard of weathered clapboard cottages, white picket fences, bougainvillea and golf carts, the island's main transport, with chic boutique hotels, barefoot-luxury beach clubs and a famously relaxed, sophisticated mood that has long drawn a discreet, in-the-know crowd.

Add swimming and snorkeling in calm turquoise water, sunset cocktails and superb island dining, and "Briland," as locals call it, is the Bahamas at its most charming and romantic.
