What’s It Like to Stay at Secrets Tides Punta Cana?
Recently, Chima Travel’s President, Brian Chima was invited to visit Secrets Tides Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. This Hyatt-owned all-inclusive resort is an adults only (18+) and opened in January 2024, making the resort one of the newest in the Secrets organization. The wifi was fantastic throughout the entire resort, earning a 9.5 out of 10.
Location and Grounds
Situated along a palm-studded beach in Uvero Alto, Secrets Tides Punta Cana is about 45 minutes North from Punta Cana International Airport. The resort grounds span nearly 800 feet of picturesque beachfront and feature lush, tropical landscaping and gardens throughout the property. During his time on the resort, Brian remarked that “The wifi on the resort was fantastic throughout the entire resort, I’d give it a 9.5 out of 10.”
Dining Experiences
The resort offers nine dining options, including six à la carte restaurants, a buffet, grill, and café, with a variety of cuisines such as Italian, French, Pan-Asian, and more. Additionally, 24-hour dining is available to satisfy late-night cravings. However, for Brian, his favorite was El Patio, the Mexican restaurant. He was particularly impressed with the Birria beef tacos and chicken empanada. He praised the mango margaritas and even found the churros for dessert quite good.
Accommodation Details
While visiting the resort, Brian stayed in a “junior suite pool view preferred club room“. This room type granted him exclusive access to a private pool area, a private section of the beach with upgraded lounge chairs, an exclusive lounge, and a well-situated room close to activities, the pool, gym, and dining options via the “preferred club” status. Brian was especially impressed with the room’s amenities, particularly the technology that allowed control of lights, A/C, and housekeeping preferences via a touch-screen system. The resort boasts 688 luxurious suites, some with swim-out access and ocean or garden views. The suites have a residential feel and are divided into different “neighborhoods” with distinctive designs, all featuring amenities like a private terrace/balcony and a daily refreshed mini-bar.
Amenities and Activities
Brian described the resort as very relaxed, with sprawling and impressive pools. Secrets Tides Punta Cana features multiple pools, including an infinity pool, along with beach and pool wait service. The resort also offers a full-service spa, fitness center, tennis courts, and non-motorized water sports. Nightly entertainment includes live shows, music, outdoor events, and theme parties. Additionally, wedding and honeymoon packages are available for couples.
Does the Secrets Tides Have a Casino?
Although the resort itself does not have a casino, Brian noted that two doors down at the neighboring resort, guests can visit a casino at the Dreams Onyx resort, a sister resort of Secrets Tides. To get to Dreams, it’s best to take a golf cart or taxi provided by the hotel.
Who’s the Resort For?
Brian noted that if you want an extremely modern and beautiful resort with neutral tones and a luxury feel, along with solid food options and a beautiful beach, then Secrets Tides Punta Cana is a great choice. However, single travelers might feel out of place due to the numerous couples seeking privacy on the two-person beach and pool loungers.
Family Friendliness
Secrets Tides Punta Cana is not family-friendly as it is exclusively for guests aged 18 and older, making it an adult only resort.
